UAW Endorses Julie Hamos for Congress

Julie Hamos has earned the endorsement of UAW- Region 4 for her candidacy for Congress in Illinois' 10th District.

"Julie Hamos has a strong history of fighting for better jobs, and a proven track record of principled and ethical leadership," said Dennis Williams, Region 4 Director, UAW. "Now more than ever, we need leaders who recognize that America's workforce is the backbone of the economy.

"Julie Hamos stands up for the working people in her community. That is why we're standing up for her."

As Illinois exceeds the nation’s double-digit unemployment rate, families across the 10th District are faced with the very real threat of losing one or both incomes. As Chair of the Mass Transit Committee, State Representative Julie Hamos negotiated reform of our public transit system to save 3,000 jobs.

In Congress, Julie Hamos will continue to be a leader on transportation. She'll fight for federal money for road improvements and public transit, investments that will create jobs, stimulate the regional economy, and improve quality of life for residents in the 10th District.

She'll also advocate for "green economy" job training programs so our workforce can capitalize on the burgeoning energy efficiency and alternative fuel industries. And she'll work to make college tuition more affordable for Illinois families.

"We have the strongest workforce in the world but we must prepare for changes that tomorrow's economy will bring," said Julie Hamos. "I thank UAW for their support and look forward to working with them to bring good jobs to the district."
